The key to success lies in how well you create an ATTITUDE OF SUCCESS.
Greetings!

Welcome to the latest addition of Success Strategies, written specifically for people who want a better relationship with themselves, their partners, friends, co-workers, and children.  Please feel free to forward this issue to anyone you think will enjoy and benefit from it.

girl with flower Where did summer go?  I can't believe it is August; time to think about the school year for those of you with school-age children, or who are in school.  Fall is also about renewal and rebirth.  It is time to harvest crops and get the soil ready for the coming cold.  What better time to reflect on our lives and determine what is working and change what is not.  In that spirit, I am dedicating this issue of Success Strategies to creating the life you want beginning today.

Create the Life You Want

girl with flower The key to success lies in how well you create an attitude of success.  Following are the steps you must take to develop this attitude and create the life you want:
SELFISHNESS.What I mean by selfishness is the mind set to allow you to make decisions based on the outcomes you desire.  Selfishness, in this context, asks "How do I protect my time, energy, and money so I am only spending them on those things that will take me closer to my goal?"
FOCUS.  The dictionary defines focus as "close or narrow attention; concentration."  Without a clear perspective you cannot focus on the desired outcome.  When you understand what it is you are to be selfish about, you generate a clear focus - a sense of purpose.
DISCIPLINE.
Once you become selfish and focused you can develop discipline.  Your vision is clear and your goals are defined.  Being disciplined means you will not abandon your goals.  It becomes another tool of your success.  It gets you through the rough spots, keeps you on track, and helps you maintain your focus.
PERSISTENCE.   Once you have defined your goals, and become selfish and disciplined you need to persistently keep your eyes clearly fixed on your objectives.  Your persistence will allow you to deal with obstacles that come along as opportunities, rather than problems.  Your persistence will drive you forward and steer you around any obstacle.
OWNERSHIP.  If you don't take ownership of your dreams, your goals, or your life, who will?  The truth is you are in complete control of the quality of yourself.  Taking ownership is acknowledging that you are the "captain of your destiny".  You own the outcome because you are clear about where you want to go and you are willing to change your behavior to achieve your desired outcome.

Commit to taking 100% responsibility for every aspect of your life.  Decide to make changes, one step at a time.  Once you start the process you will discover that it is much easier to get what you want by taking control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions!

"To succeed in life you need three things:  a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone."   Reba McEntire

Are you ready to take responsibility to create your ideal life?  Are you ready to pay attention to yourself, your behavior, and your life experiences?  And most importantly, are you ready to face the truth and deal with what is not working in your life?  Are you ready to change your behaviors to get a different outcome and take the risks necessary to get what you want?
I offer individual and couples coaching that empowers you to make the changes that will help you create your best life.  I invite you to inquire about the different programs I offer, both in-office and by telephone.

Until next time,
 Harriette
